Luckily, our Camp-Resort is located near many unique and must-visit North Carolina cities. Just 66 miles away, one can find the city of Charlotte, North Carolina. And if you only have a day to spend in Charlotte, it’s sure to be a busy one spent exploring different must-see attractions. Keep reading to find out about some of our favorites!


Play, learn, and relax at the U.S. National Whitewater Center. Discover a wide variety of outdoor activities like whitewater rafting and kayaking, rock climbing, ropes courses, and mountain biking on their 30+ mile trail system. Plus, check out their leadership and specialized instruction and certification programs. Want to visit and just relax? Catch a music festival at the Center in the summer!


Honoring the history and heritage of the beloved sport, the NASCAR Hall of Fame is an interactive entertainment destination designed to educate and entertain race fans and non-fans alike. Discover artifacts, hands-on exhibits, a 278-person state-of-the-art theater, Hall of Honor, NASCAR Hall of Fame Gear Shop, NASCAR Productions-operated broadcast studio, and more!



Kids and adults alike can enjoy the interactive world of science at Discovery Place. Check out hands-on experiments, walk through a rainforest, or check out the underwater world in the aquarium. Become immersed in larger-than-life IMAX adventures or the eye-popping 3D Theatre where science and nature spring to life!


Want to experience some historic arts & take in some entertainment? NoDa, just 2 miles from downtown Charlotte, is the perfect neighborhood to do just that. From art, live music, craft beers, unique restaurants, boutiques for custom gifts, and more, there’s something for everyone to discover!


With 98-acres to enjoy including a 7-acre lake, Freedom Park is an urban retreat just 3 miles from the heart of downtown Charlotte. Features include paved trails, tennis/volleyball courts, sport/athletic fields and playgrounds. During the warmer months, take in some live music or free films in the park pavilion. Fun fact: the park dates back to the end of World War II when it was created to honor veterans!
