Geology

Linville Caverns – Distance from Camp-Resort: 42 miles

The only caverns in North Carolina that are open and available to the public, Linville Caverns is a great stop for a geology lesson. In the early 1800’s a fishing expedition headed by Henry E. Colton discovered the area and later in 1937, it was open to the public. Guided and entertaining tours allow guests to learn about the history of the caverns, while exploring deep within Humpback Mountain.

History

Biltmore – Distance from Camp-Resort: 54.6 miles

With construction starting in 1889 and officially opening to friends and family in 1895, this 250-room French Renaissance chateau is the largest undertaking in residential architecture. Today, Biltmore is open to the public for tours, dining, shopping, and of course – educational activities for kids! They can explore the farm on site, go on hikes, and learn all about the history of the grounds.

Sea Life Charlotte-Concord – Distance from Camp-Resort: 82.5 miles

Sea Life is home to over 5,000 creatures with 16 different animal exhibits and 10 interactive zones. There’s also a 180 degree Ocean Tunnel as sharks and stingrays swim over you! Explore the wonders of the sea kingdom at this up-close experience.

North Carolina Museum of Art – Distance from Camp-Resort: 0 miles

Although most museums are closed right now due to COVID-19 restrictions, some are offering online learning plans and interactive activities for kids! Check out the North Carolina Museum of Art – kids can create wearable art, participate in virtual events, listen to stories, and more, all in the comfort of their cabin or RV at our Camp-Resort!

Jellystone Park™ Golden Valley is full of fun things to do! Paddle around the lake, cast a fishing line, play a game of basketball or volleyball with your family, swim in the pool or play at the water playground, and more! Your kids won’t be kids forever – now’s the time to have some family-friendly fun!
